Evi Abeler is a New York City-based still life and food photographer with a background in graphic design and a gift for capturing the simple beauty inherent in any subject. Her diverse client roster includes a number of museums, restaurants, publications, and designers. Most recently she has worked with Anthology Magazine, CityEats, FoodNetwork, Lotta Jansdotter and the Rubin Museum of Art. Originally from Dalsper, Germany, Evi has joyously adopted New York City as her second home. When she’s not behind the camera, she can be found visiting museums, browsing at a book store, or chasing her two young daughters around the scenic north woods of Central Park.

Cookbooks/Magazines
With my background in graphic design, I absolutely love working on cookbooks and magazine articles. Usually these projects are more involved and take several days of preparation and photographing. If you prefer, I can coordinate the production and build a team of food and/or prop stylists and designers for you. I also offer a proposal package for chefs that includes professional styling, photography and layout services for your recipes. It’s a great way to make your magazine or book proposal stand out from the rest!

---Can I use your images?
All of the photography on this site is original unless otherwise noted. If you’d like to use one of my photos, please request permission by emailing studio@eviabeler.com. All images are also available as prints on my store.
---What kind of camera equipment do you use?
I make most of the images with a Canon 5D Mark II and a 50mm F/1.4 Canon lens. For the tighter images I use a Canon 100mm F/2.8 L lens. I use natural light 99% of the time. If I absolutely have to use strobes, I use Canon Speedlights to emulate natural light. For location work I pack everything in my beloved Tamrac Evolution 5797 rolling bag.
---Do you have a studio?
I have a small home studio for table-top photography (jewelry, food, small products) and relationships with several rental studios in New York City. I can also bring my photo gear to your location.
---Do you style the food/product?
I’m happy to style your food or products. In most cases it is better and more efficient to have additional stylists on hand. In our initial consultation we'll determine what the best team for your project will be.
---Do you shoot video?
Yes, and I love it! I will upload some sample videos soon.
---Do you do product reviews?
Not particularly, but if it is a product I really enjoyed trying and it makes its way into a recipe, I’m more than happy to include your link in a post. I’m also considering offering ad space on this site, so email me if interested.
