We’re kicking off summer with a feast! I teamed up with fellow Big Leo artists, prop stylist Ed Gallagher and food stylist Susan Ottaviano to create this summer scene that embodies the lightness and fun of the season. Shot by Evi Abeler, NYC-based food photographer.

The difference between the carefully crafted food scenes we photograph and the food we, the team, really eat on set always strikes me as a bit ironic! I started to shoot some of these odd still lifes on set and recreated a few in the studio with the help of stylists Helen Quinn, Kaitlyn Du Ross Walker, and Julia Choi-Rodriguez. I got together with food stylist Laura Kinsey Dolph and prop stylist Katja Greeff and created these glorious, sparkling holiday feasts. My frequent collaborator, the food stylist Kristin Stangl, had a thought: What if we used food to represent the Solar System? We researched each planet and the sun, using food and cooking techniques to capture characteristics like temperature, topography and atmosphere.
